1 JOHN 2
2 My young children, I write these things to
you so that you mightn’t sin. But if
someone does sin, we have an intercessor towards the Father, the righteous one
Jesus Christ. 2 He is the reconciling
sacrifice for our sins – and not only ours but also for the whole world. 3 We can be sure we know him in
this: if we keep his commands. 4 The
one who says, “I have known him,” but isn’t keeping his commands is a liar and
the truth isn’t in him. 5 For
whoever is keeping his word, in this man the love of God has truly been
perfected. This is how we know we are in
him. 6 The one who says that he remains in him ought
to live as he lived. 7 Loved
ones, I’m not writing you a new command but an old command, one that you had
from the beginning – the old command is the word that you heard. 8 Again, I’m writing you a new
command that is true in him and in you because the darkness is passing away and
the true light is already shining. 9 The
one who says he is in the light but hates his brother is still in the
darkness. 10 The one who loves
his brother lives in the light and there is no disgrace in him, 11 but
the one who hates his brother is in the dark and walks around in the dark and
doesn’t know where he is going because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
12 I’m writing to tell you, little children, that your sins have been sent away through his name.
13 I’m writing to tell you, fathers, that you know the one who was from the beginning.
I’m writing to tell you, young people, that you have conquered the Evil One.
I wrote to tell you, children, that you know the Father.
14 I wrote to tell you, fathers, that you know the one who was from the beginning.
I wrote to tell you, young people, that you are strong and the word of God lives in you and you have conquered the Evil One.
15 Don’t love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father isn’t in him. 16 For all that’s in the world: the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the bragging about lifestyle don’t come from the Father but from the world. 17 The world and its lusts are passing away, but the one who is doing God’s will is living into the Age.
18 Children, it is the last hour and, as you have heard that Pseudochrist comes, even now many pseudochrists have come. This is how we know it’s the last hour. 19 They went out from us, but they weren’t part of us because if they were part of us they would have stayed with us; but they left so that it would be made obvious that none of them are part of us. 20 And you have anointing from the Holy One, and you all know this. 21 I haven’t written to tell you that you don’t know the truth but that you do know her and that no lie comes from the truth. 22 And who is the liar but one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This one is the pseudochrist: the one who denies the Father and the Son. 23 No one who denies the Son has the Father. The one who confesses the Son has the Father as well. 24 As for you, then, let what you heard from the beginning remain in you. If that which you heard from the beginning remains in you, you also will remain in the Son as well as in the Father. 25 And this is the promise he made to us: the life of the Ages!
26 I wrote these things to you concerning those who are leading you astray. 27 The anointing you have from him remains in you – you don’t need anyone to teach you, instead the anointing from him teaches you about everything. It is true, not a lie, and as he taught you, remain in him. 28 And now, little children, we remain in him, so that when he is being presented we may be courageous and not turn away in shame from him at his coming. 29 If you perceive that he is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of him.
12 I’m writing to tell you, little children, that your sins have been sent away through his name.
13 I’m writing to tell you, fathers, that you know the one who was from the beginning.
I’m writing to tell you, young people, that you have conquered the Evil One.

14 I wrote to tell you, fathers, that you know the one who was from the beginning.
