1 CORINTHIANS

15 Now I announce to you, brothers, the great news as I preached to you in the first place. You accepted it and stand in it 2 and you are being saved by it if you hold onto this word I preached, unless you have believed for nothing. 3 From the start I passed on to you what I received: that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, 4 he was buried and he was raised on the third day according to the scriptures, 5 and that he was seen by Peter, then the twelve. 6 After that he was seen by over 500 brothers at once, and most of these are still alive now, though some have been laid to rest. 7 Then later still he was seen by James, then by all the apostles, 8 and last of all – as to one born despite a miscarriage – I saw him as well. 9 I say this because I am the least of the apostles; in fact, I’m not fit to be called an apostle since I persecuted the church of God. 10 But by God’s grace I am what I am, and his grace has not come to me for nothing, but I work harder than them all – even still it’s not me but the grace of God with me. 11 At any rate, whether I preached or they did, this is what we announce and this is what you believed.
12 Now if Christ is preached as risen from the dead, how come some of you say that resurrection of the dead doesn’t happen? 13 If resurrection of the dead doesn’t happen, then Christ hasn’t been raised either, 14 and if Christ hasn’t been raised our preaching is for nothing and your faith is for nothing. 15 We would also be proven false witnesses of God because we testify about God that he raised Christ, whom he couldn't have raised if resurrection of the dead doesn't happen. 16 See, if resurrection of the dead doesn’t happen then Christ hasn’t been raised either, 17 but if Christ hasn’t been raised, then your faith is for nothing and you are still in your sins. 18 This would also mean that those who sleep now in Christ have been destroyed. 19 If it's only in this life that we have hope in Christ we are the most miserable of all people. 20 As it is, however, Christ certainly has been raised from the dead, the firstfruit of those who were laid to rest. 21 You see, as death came through a person, also through a person came resurrection from the dead; 22 for as all die in Adam, likewise in Christ all will be brought to life, 23 but each in his own order: the firstfruit, Christ, then after that, at his coming, those who are Christ’s. 24 Then it will be the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when he does away with every instigator, every authority and every power, 25 because it is right for him to reign until he has placed all enemies under his feet – 26 the last enemy being done away with is death.
